Well this is it folks, i'm all packed up and it's only 11.15pm the night before the 5.30am start of the epic journey.Four of us are taking off together in the morning ,Yern is sleeping over to ride with me down to Bunbury over two days and in the morning Grant and Na will join us to Mandurah and grab the train back.
Let me express my thanks to these guys now. To drop everything and get involved to experience a taste of what a long ride feels like makes me feel as though they really appreciate the total distance I'm trying to achieve in the next 5 months. Thanks Guys:)
Also thanks Pat(mom) for cooking the last supper, will miss the wholesome meals while away and eating out of road houses.
Finally let me finish off with an inspirational quote before hitting they bed.....
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute,or even an hour,or even a day,or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place.
If i quit, however,it will last forever. Lance Armstrong

I must say it was quite surreal hearing Kid Rock blaring out, up along Pearl Parade at 5:30 this morning. I'm super anxious, however confident that you will do well.

ReplyDeleteOnwards, onwards trojan warrior,All best for the kickoff journey brother.Jono n kk
ReplyDeletehello Grant you are probably feeling a but mushy, and looking for a hot bath and big fat pillow. I want to wish u all the best, and I reckon anyone whom can do such a marathon with OTJ training it will be you. I thought as your fans we could give u a theme song, my suggestion is " the wheels on the bike go round and round" it will eat up the smiles uhmm sorry miles for you. Another one could be " ride grantis ride".
ReplyDeleteSend my best to Jim
Grace Versace
ps keep us informed of everything, i mean every little ounce of the journey.
Hi Grant
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best for your trip and great to see that you have a few friends accompanying you along the way. Say hello to Brian for me. We will track you each day to see how you are progressing as no doubt you will. If we have a bad day we only need to read the blog to be thankful that we are not facing the challenges that you are facing each hour of everyday. Most of all enjoy yourself. May the wind and hills always be behind you.
Love Jx, Jim and Daniel
Hi Champ and Joy
ReplyDeletesaw a pic of Joy and Pearl, but between the two of them were some enormous...well, it's hard to describe.
Anyway, the quote about pain was "interesting." I notice it was from some American. I always felt that pain was a really bad thing and like my cuz Shane, has always done...avoid it!
Anyway again, I hope Unc Jim keeps quiet thru the ride and if he does go to work on you, that will be PAIN and time to go home.
No heroics. Smell the flowers and may the wind be always be behind.
Linds
Great post from the night before.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and stay safe. Above all, do everything to avoid pain. The map shows that the uphill along the east coast will be tough but once you get to Broome it should be all downhill.
Now I'll sit back and wait to see how Day 1 went. Was Myalup a tad too far for OTJ training?
Just had a look at the tracker on the "Where the bloody hell is Grant now?" tab and it is working a treat. The tracker shows that you are in Myalup but did all of you get there?
ReplyDeletewell done Grant and Jorn making it too Myelup. Sleep tight!
ReplyDeleteGreat start Grant we'll track you, but first nite out sleep well. Selwyn
ReplyDeleteGood to see ya made myalup buddy, hope it's not too hard a ride yet.
