Day 77,78 & 79 . On arriving at Gordenvale on the Friday night at my sisters (Deb) and partners place (Steve) its been 3 days of heaven ,sleeping and eating. It's now Monday afternoon and i am full as a boot with food from returning home from the restaurant , Sizzler in Cairns. I felt i thought i should at least try and return the favour by giving these guys a meal on my behalf before i left.
I think i created a monster thanking each person or couples generosity on the blog that everybody has shown me over the first half of the trip, each time raising the bar for the next people to take care of me. My plan worked to perfection.lol Still, i have used all my "phone a friend" up now, and am on my own for the rest of the second half. Thanks again guys, you know who you are.
Unfortunately or fortunately Debs been at work for the first two days but Steve has cooked breakfast , lunch and dinner every day that i've been here. There was always something cooking on the stove.

Steve busy slaving over his hot stove. |
He also ran me into Cairns for my new style haircut and to a few bike shops on Saturday and today to the bank and IGA in Gordonvale.
|
Deb and i with the new commando look. |
He even did my washing and brought it in for me. He must of been reading the past blogs to know thats what you are supposed to do because others did .lol. No ,in all seriousness, top bloke and id'e ride another 8400km to see him again ..........oh, and Debs.
The only hiccup over the weekend was their two sons (dogs),Trevor and Brian, who were very much over protective and unsure of me. Probably didn't take to me as i am the only person apparently who has visited them in the last ten years besides big bro, Shane.
|
Nice Brian and Nasty Trevor. |
Well its going to be a very sad to leave the comfort of Debs and Steves 100 year old house tomorrow morning but the "show must go on". The house is full of character. When Deb showed me my bedroom the first night ,i said, i feel like i am in that "Australian" movie and i remarked where is Nicole Kidman.A real Queensland house, polished floor boards and full of silky oak interior. Complete with casement windows and french doors. Like Steve said, a complete fire hazard.

Deb and Steve waving me goodbye one day early, they wish. |

Now the carbon tax has kicked in, Steve won't be able to cook up a hot breakfast anymore, so a well timed departure - do you head back to Townsville or north to Port Douglas before you turn west? And lucky the NT cops got that axe murderer - with your new haircut you would have been be a dead-set suspect. Ride safe, ride hard, there's a few people missing you back here in Perth.
ReplyDeleteNorth of Port Douglas to Mossman, then left a bit and down to Mt Molloy,Mereeba,Atherton,Ravenshoe,Mt Garnet,Mt surprise,Goerge Town,Croydon,Normaton,Bourke and Wills RH,Cloncurry,Mt Isa.................and then beyond.
ReplyDeleteHey Grant, love the new hair mate...if you wanted a cut like that when you were in Sydney you should have said so...we could have done it for you out back of the house & then we sent you prancing up Oxford street in you bike shorts...boys up there would have loved you, what with your free balling & all...
ReplyDeleteMate, word on your missing Jocks is that some sniffer dog at Aus Post freaked & died from a crack overdose after getting a whif...hooley dooley. Jocks def in quarantine now...for eternity hopefully.
Off to a great next leg of the trip...cant wait
Happy Pedaling
Holy mackerole, Batman. That house of Deb and Steve's is a corker. Did you get a pic of "the lady next door's house?"
ReplyDeleteAnyway it looks like a place to go to every winter from down here in the South. Thanks for the invite, Deb.
Nearly time to head in the direction Bluce wants you to go. Do you really want to go home?
The haircut looks great, Joy will love running her fingers thru that.
Maaaaayte, I do drop in most days for a look, but then have a total brain fade and can only think of saying something profound like "keep pedalling", so I dont comment. Its been all over the news that a, gay homicidal US Marine, has escaped on a pushbike somewhere in the far north, hope they dont get confused with you. It must be great to be so far ahead of schedule as you are, and be able to have a few days to relax and by the sounds of it eat up the next months calories. But anyway, the show must go on, and a lot of us have itchy feet, so you do all the hard work and we'll kick back and soak up the adventure as it unfolds.
ReplyDeleteYES SIR,,I AM READY.......Eating my wheatbix and having a cuppa .....SIR. Moving out soon .......SIR
DeleteBrian & Trevor are cuties:) I could get use to hair.... Looks very "Tour-de-France", although by the time you come home your mate Mackie (not Tom) could have some hair competition lol xox

DeleteHello Grant
ReplyDeleteYou are doing fantastic . All the rage at the moment is a trilogy of novels , the first being fifty shades of grey ,being called a "juggernaut of mummy porn" . Now these novels are by a first time author making her millions ,now of course this is all fiction. With all your stories and characters you have met you definitely have the making of a best seller , you know what they say fact is truer then fiction . Can I be your agent ....PLEASE !!!
Keep PEDALLiNG
