day 110,111,112 & 113

Day 110 was an early start from Sandfire R/H after talking to a fellow called Malcolm who happened to be a dietitian and staying at the same caravan park. Nice guy travelling around by himself so he got the invite to stay at my place when he arrives one day in Perth. He told me that i was on the right track by eating heaps. (thanks again Peitro) Drink plenty of milk he said also. Funny though how some guys are super smart but still try and pat pet camels at caravan parks and get bitten and have to go to the doctor and get bandaged up.lol.
Ended up pedalling ok to Pardoo R/H and then in the direction of Port headland till i needed to set up camp

One for you Linds as requested
Day 111 Up early and off to Port Headland and straight to Coles to stock up on food before getting the hell out of there and heading again into a bit of night riding till i dropped 40kms from Whim creek.
Another Linds.
Day 112 Same old same old, up early and pushed on to Whim Creek which has been closed down by some mine who bought it. Geez i hate that. Next stop the great Roebourne into a headwind that nearly killed me. Finally when i arrived the only place open was the service station and absolute junk food because the kitchen was closed early because they where short staffed. No accommodation in town until a bloke called Graham asked if i wanted to stay at his industrial block providing i help him bleed his truck brakes in the morning.  Answer...I rode out of town in the dark and came across a caravan camp site 20 kms from Karratha turn off and set up camp and chatted to some people around a fire till 12 o'clock
Day 113 Geuss what, up early and off to Fortescue R/H and more night riding and i'm here now 40 kms further on blogging
I now have 14 days and 1400kms left and if i do my calcs right that is 100kms per day average. I will try and do a bit more than that to allow for bad weather and cut back closer to home, still the 19th will be the day i return to celebrate the march in. Just like Napoleons Victory March through the Pearly Gates.
Excuse me sir, i woke up a bit stiff this morning, any chance of a lift

Who's idea was this again.

Whats left

Coming together just like a jigsaw

There you go John Du Boulay the The French Connection. By the way has anybody seen or heard from John since he went walking in the Pyrenees
Before i forget, Happy Birthday to the  RAT tomorrow ,the 6th (bro)

  2. Thanks for the sleeping arrangement pics. Now I know why I would NEVER be able to do what you are doing. I like my own bed too much and the pic of yourself made me feel good all over...at least I think it was you.
It did look a bit like the dear departed, though. You haven't resurrected him, have you?

  3. the map is looking great...a very long black line almost around the whole of the country. I think it will have to be framed at some stage when you can bear to think about the effort of it all.
The countryside is just as I am imagining it, bit stonier though.
I am in awe of all the early morning starts you are making. I got up early today to watch Bolt win the 100 metres and I feel so tired this afternoon I might have to have a nap before dinner. That was just one early start! I think you should write a book about self-motivation, maybe a pamphlet even. There must be some secret to it all.
Enjoy the warm weather while you can, it's definitely not t-shirt weather here in the Southern states.

  4. Hi big guy, watched the Mars lander live from JPL today, I looked very close at the landscape and saw tyre marks in the Martain soil, JPL called and I said "Don't worry, the guy that did them didn't cost 2.5 Billion he just did a small detour!

Keep up the great job and Jude's right you must frame that map for your Grand children.

  5. Maaaayte, cant believe this little jaunt will be all over in a couple of weeks, maybe you could give us all another lap. No really this has all been an amazingly inspirational effort and it will be a bit sad when it comes to an end. My own inspiration has been to drink beer and enjoy the adventure as it unfolds, but I'm sure others have had more positive outcomes than me.
    cheers kelvin

  7. Holy houndogs, Batman.
The tracker has gone mad...you are wandering all over the place, probably looking for a breakfast?
See you went down by the "river" for your night's sleep, away from noise?
Bluce had a good point about your visit to Mars.

  8. Hi GW/C#*#*#*K, I see everything is going to plan. Now back in the Cooper Basin as their is plenty of work happening. Made it out of Tanzania on the 26th July and out to SA on the 31st July. I won't be around for the debrief so you will have to wait when I get back sometime in September. Good to see that you haven't lost your magnetic field that surrounds you on the trip.

Stay safe & breathe in and breathe out

  11. Hullo there Geedubya, looks like your adventure is nearly over and in 12 days time you can put your feet up at home and relax for a bit.Your photos have been great and provide good insight where your dot can't. I think JS's observation of the magnetic field that surrounds you was right on the money, although it may be weakening slightly as you were able to give Graham the flick "real quick"!! Anyhow stay alert and hope to catch you in 12. Ciao4now.

  16. Should make 19,000 hits by tonight...maybe even make the 20,000 by Sunday 19 August which would be another achievement. Pearl was visiting grandma last night...she is looking well and no signs of her recent ill health.

  22. Spot on,got all that and two idiot foreigners speaking in the next room who wont shut up. Already have punched the wall and screamed out. They went softer but now i've had to turn the tele on to drown them out. Its amazing when you need sleep theres always some people within hearing distance talking shit all night. They have stopped now but can smell smoke from outside so looks like there having a breather before going back in for another round of talks. Really whats so important that it needs to be talked about at 2.15 in the morning. Christ.
