Day 56

Day 56 started off about 7am and the whole Newcastle cycle fraternity where riding everywhere being Saturday morning, passing me and talking and waving at me from across the roads as though they knew with the gear I'm carrying and the slow speed i was going that i was on a long mission and i think they respected it. Met a guy called Nick and we had a good chat and he was telling me he was going to the French Alps next month and riding not far from the tour starting soon and he was out getting some road  km under his belt.
The ride today was a fairly pleasant one due to the road being a good surface and reasonably flat. The sun was shining all day and hardly any breeze. Tony and Jen with the kids caught up with me again on there long weekend away from Sydney just near the turnoff of there friends place who owns a farm near the lakes just after Bulahdelah. I think he really loves being on the blog so i took another photo with him and Jen was trying to bribe me with her Mini Sushi again but no photo. Plus the kids wanted just to get to the farm and stop stuffing around with this bloody old guy on the bike.lol
Tony drove 300km so he could get his picture on the blog again, good effort.
By the way Doc, you know how your always looking for adventure well i found a real challenge for you and you might be interested.
I rang the number and passed your number on to them,so keep your mobile with you.
Like i said earlier the day was an all round good day with no problems in the way of hills and bike problems. Even the N.S.W roads have the best rest stops i have come across, check this one out.
Brilliant,a place to lean my bike up against,a chair to sit on and a crappa with an emergency phone all on the highway.
Who ever named this channel should be sacked, get it.lol

Jack t. or Jack f.

Now i'm into geese Linds, one for Andrea.
Well i landed in Taree this afternoon and got a good room but disappointed with the huge steak i ordered at the pub, it was like a small chop but didn't have the energy to make a scene but should of at $26, bit rude i thought.
Don't forget guys some of these blogs are only for my records so don't scream  out WTF. because they dont have much content.lol
Hoozy doozy Grant

  3. Hi Glant, panic sent in before, couldn't log on but all is well.

Got motivated by your $50 haircut, so I headed off to 'Pinkies' saloon on the beach front, had a haircut, manicure, face massage, hand massage, shampoo, neck-face-forehead shave, eyebrows done and told "I was velly handsome man", fell asleep, they even charged my iPone all for $17 inc tip. Oh how you must miss Asia?

Head North young man, Frainy says all hell is blowing in Perth, rain, wind freezing..... Rucky boy.

  4. The weather looks ordinary for you. But as the deep North beckons, warmer days should be ahead lol
I'm not into these Joyish abbreviations :) but am prepared to learn.
Cold here, too, though I cut my own hair with number two comb and have learned to cut my own fingernails.
I liked the look of your gloves in one of the pics.

  6. Hi Grant...all is well here apart from the weather. So far we have escaped the damage and our electricity remains on unlike other suburbs. Not travelling far from home - a good excuse to stay indoors and watch a DVD. The Doc has not got any calls yet re the job - they must be waiting until office hours to call. Happy cycling. Jackiexx

  7. Don't mind a little rain, the weather gods are with you. They got you out of Gippsland before it flooded and into Sydney before the skies opened up. Rest up in Coffs if you need to, it's a nice spot. Just watch out for the unreconstructed hippies as you get further up the NSW coast - I can just see you working on a commune. Oh, and thanks for the job spotting ol' son but a bit far to travel each day.

  10. Happy Queen's birthday to you! Good to hear you are having a relaxing public holiday morning in a cafe. We are all sleeping-in around the country, in fact everywhere except WA. Why is it that they are the only place in the whole country, not to have a holiday today for our gracious leader? Do they have it on her real birthday perhaps? Or at some other time and why? Or maybe not at all? That would make sense cos if there was one place that would like to go it alone it's where the sand-gropers live. Who knows?
We had such a big frost this morning that the whole nature strip was covered in ice. Lins wouldn't get out of bed as it was only 8C in the bedroom, he had to wait till the gas warmed the house up to 20C. Some of us are getting old.
Speaking of which I will personally not vouch for any southerners driving north for the winter with their vans and campers. You will know what I mean as you get further north. They will be everywhere. Take care! If you meet my 91 year old uncle on the road, stay well away. I have heard he has no side vision,no long vision and no short vision. In fact I can't understand how he can drive a car at all, let alone tow a van.
As it's nearly 10 degrees outside, I will go and check on the peas and carrots in the vegie garden and see if they have died in the cold. Then I will water my potplants, I read that keeping them wet stops them from freezing. After that, it will be time to light the fire in the lounge so Lins can have some sporting pain this afternoon and I can curl up with a book and escape. Stay dry!

  11. Hehehehe - The Geese are taking over the road!! hahah
Hope your keeping safe, not sure what the weather is like out there for you, besides rain, yet its been hella stormy over here, and our suburb is without power and it may take several days for it to be restored. More storms on its way today and tomorrow! Eeeek!
    Take Care,
    Andrea
