Day 57 & 58

Day 57 was a fairly big day due to starting a bit late from Taree and then getting caught out not being able to stop before dark and before the rain came. Ended up in Macksville. Apart from that i really only had one problem when i stopped off the highway well into the bushes down a track to have some piece and quite when Tony on his 650 cc trail bike rolls up and says ,g'day what ya doin etc etc and when he goes to take off the bike has a flat battery. So here i am pushing him for the next twenty minutes trying to kick start his bike. You know, you go on a bike ride to get away from everything and even go down a quite track, but the bastards still find you.
This is Tony making out he hates his bike, hey i would of gladly poured petrol on it and Tony and smiled when i lit it .
Day 58 is not looking to be good as far as distance goes as I am stuck some 50 kms from Coffs Harbour with too much heavy rain happening at a cafe. But i am not worried as i am ahead of schedule and an easy day wont hurt, but i am keen to get going
Welcome to my office

Photographic evidence of rain.
Talk later, keep those comments coming in,much appreciated. And just because i leave your State doesn't mean i am out of range with the Internet.

  2. WTF
    You're on the internet?
I thought the tracker was doing all this for you?
The wonders of wireless. Next you know, they'll stop sending telegrams.

  3. Good to see you starting a holiday on the deck of a cafe. Enjoy! If it's any consolation, they've had an inch of rain 100kms north of you so no point riding into it. Looks like it may clear this arvo' and you could get southerlies so you never know when the Gods are with you.
As I said on the previous blog, it's a chilly start to a holiday Monday here, but will warm up by the time footy starts this afternoon.
So,relax, think of the Queen and good luck when you get the pedals turning.

  4. You have to watch out for people in forests in NSW, he would have scared hell out of me the chappie that showed up on the motor bike.
The Blogg is working okay now, must be monitored by my new best friends in Hanoi. You asked what's a forehead shave? We we will have to talk in tounges again!!! just like Joy....with acronyms...but this is children friendly blog, especially in Coll's school, we will compare notes back at Pearl street.

Adaption of a quote from 'Apocolypse Now', "Never get off the bike, never get off the bike unless you are going all the way"

Cheers, warmer weather on the way!!!!

  7. We've been to Rainbow for long weekend collecting Mallee roots for firewood out on the edge of the Big Desert. No mobile reception let alone internet but we kept asking ourselves "wonder where Grant has got to". We are totally obsessed with checking your blog - just walked in the door - it's freezing - we've got kids to feed, fires to light but the first thing we do is check the blog!! Well done - you are mowing down the kms.

  8. Hey uncle Grant,
Hope everything is still going well for you out there! Keep riding
Also, I've been listening to you on the radio - it tends to give an answer for those "why am I up so early" questions!

  9. Hi Grant, I just checked your location on the GPS & it shows you in the bush at a place called dirty creek...sounds like your kind of place for a bit of quiet time trying to dump this mornings breaky I reckon.

We drove back to Sydney last night from Seal Rocks & man it bucketed down hard the entire trip. I hope that has already passed you because it wasnt pretty.

Quite a few of my work colleagues are asking me on a progress update & all very impressed with you you are travelling. Keep it up & we will talk soon.

    Cheers

  10. We are bunkering down for the night in Perth expecting wild storms particularly between 10 and 2am....wind is starting to build as I type. The wonderful company that I work for had the decency to send staff home a little earlier which was certainly appreciated by all - it is the little things in life that count!! I had to LOL at the thought that you were sitting quietly in the bush - probably having a nice cup of tea and next thing you are having to help someone out...sounds like you were at home!!!
Thinking of you and looking forward to your interview tomorrow morning...Jackiexx

    1. The only thing i did was take my plastic rain gear off, there was no time for a cup of tea or food.Straight into the pushing after the 10min chat and then i had spent too long there so off i went shaking my head, why me.
